Around 2:30 or so, I saw a bright flash and heard a loud crick-crack outside my living room window. There was no damage to my home and none that I could see out the window, so I figured a tree had been struck by lightning. Well, about 30 minutes later I heard fire trucks coming up the street. First one, then another, then several more. By the time everyone had arrived, two ladder trucks, 3 pump trucks, an EMS van, the fire chief's car, and two Boston Police cars were all at my little intersection. One of the ladder trucks extended it's ladder to the top of a house only two houses away. A fireman climbed up, inspected, and then came back down only a minute or two later. The EMS guy also approached the house, but didn't walk away with any look of urgency. Luckily it seems that no one was hurt and there was no real damage. I'm happy to see that the emergency services here are so prompt, too.
It was dark at around 1:00PM when I left the house. It had been pouring for a good portion of the afternoon. It has since cleared
up.

Boston is beginning to get lightning storms like they have in my hometown, St. Louis.
Glad no damage was done and the response was prompt.
